DAMN, Kendrick Lamar Set to Perform at the College Football National Championship Game

“This year is a true first for college football, and it makes sense that the hottest performer of the moment, Kendrick Lamar, would usher in this new era for the national championship game,” said Ed Erhardt, President, ESPN Sales & Marketing in an interview with ESPN.

The Award winning artist Kendrick Lamar will perform as the first halftime performance at the College Football Playoff National Championship (CFPNC), from Centennial Olympic Park near Mercedes-Benz Stadioum in Atlanta Georgia Jan. 8.

The Compton native has been one of the hottest rappers of the 2017 year, dropping the DAMN album, which has 7-Grammy Award nominations and has won 6-MTV Music Video Awards, an American Music Award, even 2-BET Hip Hop Awards with many more winnings and nominations across the board this past year.

Lamar commented, “Having the opportunity to perform at the halftime of what will surely be the best game of the year between two deserving universities is truly an honor.” Lamar will perform a free non-ticketed admission show that will be integrated into ESPN’s halftime telecast of the College Football National Championship presented by AT&T.

Erhardt spoke on the subject more in an ESPN interview expressing, “In each year of the College Football Playoff, we’ve been able to build upon the experience of the last.” Within the four years of the CFPNC tenure the games have been one for the ages, it’s only right to improve upon the already strong foundation it has built for itself with thousands of people attending and even millions more watching at home.

With the home team, University of Georgia Bulldogs, returning to perform on the biggest stage of College Football they will play the 3-time returning Alabama Crimson Tide. This will be a good game with physicality and intensity that the SEC (both in conference) brings day in and day out during the college season.

As the days dwindle closer to kick off we anticipate the first College Football Playoff Halftime Performance as well as the victor who will be crowned the new National Champion. With that in mind one thing is for certain, the performance and game will be DAMN. good.
