H.E.R. Channels Her Inner Lauryn Hill on New EP

Gabi Wilson, infamously known as H.E.R., taps into the rhythmic sounds of one of Lauryn Hill’s classic songs from her 1998 album to kick off her EP, I Used To Know Her. She touches on many cultural conflicts in the opening song Lost Souls much like L Boogie in Lost Ones while reflecting her flow and unveiling a hidden talent; ole girl can spit!

I Used To Know Her sounds like a post break-up album which is a contrast to the love filled Best Part with Daniel Caesar. Against Me showcases her writing skills as she recites a poem at the end that encourages empowerment and the need to listen to our intuition when entering or existing in any relationship. She features Bryson Tiller in the regret stricken song Could’ve Been and later talks herself up as pretty much “the best lover you’ll ever have” in As I Am.

Since it’s release, I Used To Know Her has been on constant repeat. Get ready,

H.E.R. is gearing to release her debut album and gave us this 6 song EP as a tease.
